High Elves: (Summary by Vern) Tolkien had them right—tall, graceful, brilliant. Long lived and equally long winded. You know the legends that if you join with the elves you can be gone for twenty years when it only seems a night? The truth is, what takes a human a night to do—be it a story or a conversation—can take a High Elf days, weeks, even. And it can seem like twenty years if you're not used to it.

High Elf Characters in the DragonEye Books and Stories

High Elf names are notoriously long and complex, but when pronounced have a meaning in English that matches the character. Below are the characters, with pronunciations and the novels and stories they appear in.

Awbebiyewottyelfteez: (Aw, baby, you hottie elf tease). Former Keeper of Ages, though no one called it that until Bard Sir Jake, overcome with the sight of her (and probably too much wine), sought to win her love by writing her a ballad. Ottyelf, as her friends called her, naturally led him on until he'd finished the song—thirty-two verses in Schizac quadrameter—then absconded with the vest he'd written it on to show her friends as a practical joke. She didn't count on Sir Jake's famed memory, however; even hung over, he remembered enough verses to make a decent song, ensuring that the human race would never forget Awbebiyewottyelfteez, Keeper of Ages. Just goes to show you should never puck a bard with a long memory. Magic, Mensa and Mayhem,

Evalakkiduznogud: (Evil lacky does no good): Not much is known about him other than he is a Drau, or Dark Elf, who are generally evil. Gozon has battled him at least once in "single combat" that quickly turned into a melee as Evalak's brethren joined in. (Hey, they're evil; of course they'll cheat.) Magic, Mensa and Mayhem,

Galendoropynphordaladys of the House Eternal Winds of the Forests of the High Elves: (Gallant?-or-pimp-for-da-ladies, OR, Gallant, adore, o, primp for the ladies—it can go both ways. The Namer of the Branches for the House Eternal Winds of the Forests of the High Elves had done his celebrating somewhat prior to Galendor's naming ceremony and slurred just a bit. His mom did what she could.) Galendor's cousins talked him into playing the charming suitor to get Princess Galinda in trouble (not that kind of trouble!) by coaxing her to remove a valuable necklace and leave it where his cousins could steal it. True to cliché, he fell in love with Galinda, confessed, helped save her life, and married her. Magic, Mensa and Mayhem, “Dragon Eye, PI” in Firestorm of Dragons

Gozonvabosomofic of the House Eternal Winds of the Shores of the High Elves: (Goes-on-verbose-some-more-fic): One of the top elves in the House Eternal Winds hierarchy, he carries the titles: Speaker of the Winds, Friend of Men, Ambassador of the Eternal Winds. I have a lot of respect, if not a lot of patience, for him. Gozon was once a great warrior, now a scholar, and always a pontificating airbag. Magic, Mensa and Mayhem, "World Gathering,"

Hawgindespotlite: (Hogging the spotlight) Plays Dr. Max Maliciousness in the play Captain Extraordinary. Gapman

Imdaboz'ndonchafuggeditt of the House Eternal Winds of the High Elves: (I'm the boss and don't cha forget it): Queen of the House Eternal Winds, she rules with a firm hand. Magic, Mensa and Mayhem,

Pampaserrbahgh of the House Eternal Winds of the Forests of the High Elves: (Pompous Airbag) Keeper of the Artifacts for the House Eternal Winds and a member of the Forest tribe. Magic, Means and Mayhem,

Watkyndaydiottaru of the House Eternal Winds of the Shores of the High Elves: (What kind of idiot are you) A stickler for decorum and etiquette to the point of being a major annoyance, he insisted on calling me by my full name every time until I lost my temper and… Well, let's just say I lost a few points with God and the Elves know better than to call me "d'Wyvern" now.
